February

It has been really busy time since I wrote last time so excuse me.

I´ve got some news as a school year has begun  :( but still school here is mostly fun. 6 subjects - easy. This semester I decided to do Physics ( it´s not that hard I expected to be even it is in english, actually I like Physics - I´ve got a good teacher finally), Biology - human body (exactly what I am interested in), Geography (could not be more boring), Dance classes (amazing classes - were doing musical theatre dance), Maths - easy, English - boring. During school breaks I am learning to play piano - love it!.

My free time is actually not free time at all. I´ve got a work in restaurant as a bartender and waitress - enjoy the job. Then I do rowing two times a week, touch football once a week, on Tuesday nights I have meeting with my dance partner because of the preparation for debutant ball and kickboxing before the meeting, on Thursday nights I play tennis at the tennis club with my host sister. So quite busy life ;)

Some other news is my host brother is gone to France for an exchange. He has begun the best year of his life even though he can´t speak french or at least he could not before he left. Hope he will make the most of it:). I bet he will. Next thing is that tomorrow I am flying to Brisbane with my host family to visit my host sister and second host brother who are awesome. All my host family is the best in the entire world. I will so miss them. Anyway we stay in Brisbane till Sunday which is awesome cause no school on Friday. Haha:)

What I wanted to mention is that my Safari trip is so close. It is only few weeks left till I will go. Can´t wait to see the other parts of this totally amaying country which I love. I wish all my friends were here with me.

Oh I forgot to write about how me and my host family went to some wild island for a lunch. We just decided to take the boat to the ocean and then we headed away from the mainland to the ocean. We stoped on one wild island where was nothing just beach and palm trees and the reef around. I saw sea turtles, jellyfishes, and then we just set up the table and prepare some lunch. It was beautiful out there. And we have had many wonderful days like that. Thank to my host family!

I won´t any photos right now but I will do it soonish. At least I got to write something here eventually. Keep forgeting about my blog.

For all Europeans: enjoy -20°, while I am swimming in the hot ocean and sunbaking. Don´t worry I always think of you. haha miss you all guys ;) (apologise for grammar stuff)

One photo but it´s from Christmas - biting gingerbread house - homemade ;)

New Year = half a year

December was definitely one of the best months of my exchange I can tell. I have got 2 months of holidays after the end of school year (btw my marks were quite good almost all Bs and two Cs - Art and Biology-it´s really hard in english) . All my host siblings have come home so the house is sooo full :). It´s really nice and busy.

Second week of December was just amazing. I flew to Gold Coast - big busy city on the beach... with surfers and all the things. I visited Sea World - saw dolphins, sea lions, sharks, rays, penguins.... . Movie World - cool roller coasters, movies, and so on.. And then the one thing I had dreamed of ....

and looots of shopping eventually :D

And then the dream ended and I had to return up to Atherton :))

However I was really curious about Aussie Christmas,... It was so different. Also I couldnt feel christmassy cuz of the crazy high temperature ..(you cant even sleep good). Anyway we celebrated Xmas on 25th of dec and we had a small party on 24th of dec. It was so muh food for two days. Then on monday we had Boxing day lots of shopping because of the biggest sales.

New Years Ev. was awesome with my friends and family... we had a party at our house and we really enjoyed:) I made many resolutions for this year soo keep fingers crossed for me to keep them as long as possible.. apparently it takes 21 days to ged rid of bad habits and gain new ones ;)

Oh Id like to say that I have never seen so much insect in my life before. Spiders like my palm and Christmas beetles ?! awwww, I am getting goose pimples each time I think of them.. oh and rhinosaurus beetles... they are huuge and gross... then leeches - worms sucking your blood... Good experiences :)))

All holidays just swimming, chilling, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding ...and  partying :P

And now I have another 7 months to collect new experience and take as much as possible from my journey of learning :).

I miss my home as much as it is possible for me, it´s nt that easy at all and sometimes I am really sad but I love my host family, my friends and Australia... and I wont let bad feelings to ruin the time left. I am gonna push it hard and make it the best time ever. I promise ;)

Time flows...

Almost every day I wake up and my first thought is how come I am in Australia... Its such an unbelievable fact.
But still miss my home, my Slovakia <3

I feel like I live another life totally different from the one I live in Slovakia. Every day gives me so many situations I can learn from and I have never learnt so much in such a short time in my life before. You can´t imagine how tired I come home :)).

However, I am not changing my opinion about fucking perfect Australia!!

This month has been such a wonderful time... I love orientation meetings with other exchange students - we share a dream, experience... Love you guys :-*

We have done Abseiling, giant swing, canoeing, bushwalking, swimming... and we played some cool games haha

And here in the country on the other side of our beautiful planet was my 18 birthday party (4th of November). How come I am so old... I had a great time spent with my australian friends who are so lovely, I don´t really deserve them...
BIG THANK TO MY HOST FAMILY WHICH IS THE BEST ON THE WHOLE WORLD
I will never forget...

SO

I am an exchange student. How do you know what is a dream if you never accomplished one? How do you know what is an adventure if you never took part in one? How do you know what is anguish if you never said goodbye to your family and friends with your eyes full of tears? How do you know what is diversity if you never lived under the same roof with people from all over the world? How do you know what is tolerance, if you never had to get used to something different even if you didn’t like it. How do you know what is autonomy, if you never had the chance to decide something by yourself? How do you know what it means to grow up, if you never stopped being a child to start a new course? How do you know what is to be helpless, if you never wanted to hug someone and had a computer screen to prevent you from doing it? How do you know what is distance, if you never, looking at a map, said “I am so far away”? How do you know what is a language, if you never had to learn one to make friends? How do you know what is patriotism, if you never shouted “ I love my country” holding a flag in your hands? How do you know what is the true reality, if you never had the chance to see a lot of them to make one. How do you know what is an opportunity, if you never caught one? How do you know what is pride, if you never experienced it for yourself at realizing how much you have accomplished? How do you know what is to seize the day, if you never saw the time running so fast? How do you know what is a friend, if the circumstances never showed you the true ones. How do you know what is a family, if you never had one that supported you unconditionally? How do you know what are borders, if you never crossed yours, to see what there was on the other side? How do you know what is imagination, if you never thought about the moment when you would go back home? How do you know the world, if you have never been an exchange student?"...

3 months over

Yeasterday I just realized how fast time flows and its alredy been 3 months here in Australia. I thought it would go very slow but not. I have to tell that I have fallen in love with Australia. I have done so many things since I came. My life has been changed. I will never be the same Jana again. I has understood lots of things about life.

I have found so lovely people here, my new friends. Also this day is one of the last days of me being 17 years old girl. I was not really excited few months ago that I would be celebrating 18 here without my friends, but now I am sooo excited, I am happy to be 18 in Australia.

What I need to say you is my host family is the best one. I love them so much! My host mum and dad are so lovely and so nice to me. My sisters are the best! I ahave always wanted to have sisters like them. And my host brother.... Simply the best :) (dangerous driver haha). If I didnt have to I would leave them ! They all are the best :). I am really lucky person.

Experience...

At first I have to say I have never thought it is so hard to cave and aslo to CAMP... 3 days without real toilets and shower and the worst was sleeping in a tent surrounded by all the insect you could imagine - totally hard. But I did it! I am pretty proud of myself for that. Whatever ... I will try everything what its possible here :) make my life more interesting.. One day I will probably tell my children what all stuff I did and that I really was in Australia !

(At this camping/caving I had first english dream and I responded my friend from a dream in english in a tent ..:D )

Keep smiling and go to another rock hole...

Trying not to fall ...

It´s almost 2 months I´ve been here and it actually does flow quickly. At the moment I have 2 weeks of holidays after the third term. On Wednesday I came back from my 4 days vacation in Port Douglas(beautiful beaches) with my host family. The days were AWESOME!

Me and my host sister parasailing...

I also forgot to mention that my school assignements have been done already. I think I made most of them very well. I will know results next term. Keep your fingers crossed for me please :)

Getting used to.

Dear diary
I feel really good after this amazing weekend with my friends. I am just wondering that I havent been at "australian home" any weekend yet. A busy life you know. This weekend I spent 15 minutes from my town at the farm where my friend Francesca from Italy lives . She had a birthday! 17... (the best year ever so far I think) Also that reminds me I am 18 in less than 2 months. Oh maaan, so old..."Poor Jana"...

Tomorrow is really hard and Exciting day cause from my Outdoor Education subject we are going to cave!..You know the stuff about pushing yourself through the holes in the caves with all the equipment. A bit scary especially when I am afraid of tinny room and climbing on the rock walls. Well I promised myself this year is not gonna be about stupid fear when I can try something that will give me experience for my life. Memories :). Anyway I will camp in the bush and during the day will be caving. Funny, three days without toilets, shower and sleeping in a tent. I hope I will take plenty photos for you guys ! Will be back on Wednesday.

Other thing I have to mention is I am going to change my family in a month cause my host family is going to Europe for a month. I am curious about the net family.

The last and pretty scary thing is PLENTY OF ASSESMENTS are waiting for me during next two weeks till the end of the term 3 and till holidays start. Do not want even to think about that. I had an test from HPE class how to play FIELD HOCKEY = never heard about the sport before and I had to know how to play. Insane. Pretty hard sport and doesnt even have connection with hockey at all.. (miss ice hockey). Well at least my classmates had fun when they saw me haha.

Oh about my free time i would like to say. No free time left. Ive got Zumba on Monday and Wednesday then on Thursday Netball, i will starts also swim at the mornings with my counsellor and weekends are pretty busy cause I am never at home. Always something is offered to do. And about my holidays I am gonna with my host family for few days to Port Douglas - heard that there is so beautiful and especially beaches and then to Townsville at the end of holidays. Really looking forward cuz Im gonna meet all the exchange students from my district! ALSO I AM LOOKING FOR A JOB HERE - I am going to WORK. (sounds funny)

Thats all for today. Lets study :-/

Laters.

Really dangerous but wonderful
